“SHOULDN’T we have a day of rest?” Demetrius sighed dramatically.

“You rested yesterday,” Lee replied.

“Not the entire day. Yesterday afternoon was quite stressful,” Demetrius argued.

“Stop being a child.” Lee shook a folder at Demetrius in warning. “You need to approve the upcoming shipments. You also have three too many in Section Two. Do you want to move them to another section?”

“How are living conditions in Section Five?” Demetrius took the folder from Lee to glance over the papers it contained.

“We haven’t visited since Wednesday, but I’m sure all of the warehouses are as expected.”

“Move the three then. Even out the Sections a little better.”

“You also have a message from Arden.”

“What does the prick want today?” Demetrius groaned with frustration.

Ty watched the two from the couch. The scene between them had made it clear that Lee kept everything running.

“He is demanding a dinner tonight.” Lee read over the request from his cell phone. “Six at Alizé.”

“French food at The Palms,” Demetrius stated with a light laugh. “I guess the lamb isn’t too bad there.”

“It isn’t the usual place for Arden. I can’t say I understand his choice,” Lee frowned. “I also don’t trust his intentions.”

“Why did he call this dinner?” Demetrius questioned. “I have a suspicion that it is due to Ty.”

“You’re probably right,” Lee agreed, placing his phone back into his pocket. “He said he wants to discuss a business plan.”

Demetrius leaned forward in the desk chair. “He’s lying. The little bastard never has business plans. He also never wants me to dabble in his affairs.”

“He either expects you to leave Ty unattended so he can take him or for you to bring Ty.”

“I don’t like it.”

Ty stood up. “We have to know if Arden will be at the shipment on Tuesday or not.”

“There is never a way to tell what Arden will do,” Lee replied, looking over his shoulder at Ty. “It would probably be in Ty’s best interest if you did not attend tonight, Dem.”

“I know, but it would be in my best interest to annoy Arden.” Demetrius glanced at Ty. “Arden is nothing compared to Galo. If Arden is annoyed enough, he’ll whine to Daddy.”

“Do you truly intend to kill Galo?” Ty asked pointedly.

“No.” Demetrius shook his head. “But at the time I couldn’t tell you that I intended to arrest him.”

“Why don’t you just go visit Galo?” Ty narrowed his eyes.

“Galo refuses to meet with any of his workers—including his son, Arden,” Demetrius replied with a tinge of annoyance. “Don’t question how we’re handling things. You’re along for the ride and to pick up a cockroach named Arden.”

“Why do you think Arden will be jealous of you simply because you’re heading into the pet business by owning me?”

“Clearly I’ve upset him already,” Demetrius laughed. “He might not be jealous, but he is aggravated that I’ve stepped onto his turf.”

Ty nodded slowly while his mind processed what could happen. “You’re not going to agree to more pet games, are you?”

“No.” Demetrius smiled gently. “I won’t have you go through that again.
